1996年我应邀到韩国做“组织培养中的细胞状态调控”的报告，美籍韩裔科学家Ok Young Lee-Stadelmann博士（对我人生有重要影响的学术导师之一）帮我做翻译，她向听报告的师生们介绍说“这是组织培养中的孟德尔定律”。在此，我把恩师称之为“组织培养中的孟德尔定律”以英文的形式介绍给大家。

“华北是小麦主产区，小麦抗旱应变被动为主动，提前防范”，3月8日，在全国政协十一届四次会议上，全国政协委员、中国科协常委、河北农科院副院长王海波建议，兴建农田水利特别是微小型水利设施，推广节水灌溉技术，扶持抗旱科技创新，使小麦抗旱从必然王国走向自由王国。
对于社会上普遍存在的对转基因食品的忧虑，作为植物基因工程专家的王海波委员表示，“公众对转基因的担忧太过，超出了理性范围。”王海波表示，转基因产品并不是大家想象的那般可怕，他给出了自己的三大理由：
